Prime state land, going, going...?
Prime State land in and around the Colombo city has been advertised for sale, both locally and internationally by the Government's Public Enterprise Reforms Commission (PERC).

Among the attractive plots advertised by PERC is a 12-acre extent of land opposite the redeveloped Beira Lake, along Sir James Peiris Mawatha, which formerly housed the Colombo Commercial Company (CCC).

Property developers told The Sunday Times that they believed that a perch of land could fetch anything more than Rupees 1.5 million. PERC has called for Expressions of Interest from both local and foreign investors wishing to purchase the land in entirety, in large blocks or in the form of 10 to 15 perch blocks. The closing date has been fixed as March 31.

The other State land advertised for sale is a block of 126 perches alongside Union Place and owned by the National Paper Company (former National Paper corporation).

Bids have also been called to revive the BCC Lanka Ltd. located at a prime property consisting of nearly six acres in Colombo 12. Meanwhile PERC has also called for bids for the revival of the Embilipitiya Paper Mills.
