Batsmen
revel at SSC
By Shamseer Jaleel
A magnificent century by Isipatana opening batsman
Visuddhi Kaluwitharane 106 not out and seven half centuries - four
by Isipatana and three by Thurstan were the highlights of the 42nd
encounter between the two schools ended in a draw at SSC yesterday.
An aggregate of 820 runs were scored for the loss of only 22 wickets
in the whole game.
For
Isipatana half centuries were scored by Tharaka Waduge (90), Dilan
Anurudda (67), Isuru Vindana (62) and Liyan de Silva (52 not out)
while for Thurstan opener Hasthitha Perera (72 and 73 not out) and
Lahiru Gamage (59) shone with the bat where the bowlers had a game
which they would like to forget where the SSC pitch gave them no
support at all.
Thurstan
continuing from their overnight score of 110 for 3, were shot out
for 220 just after lunch. Taking the lease for the second time Isipatana
made the declaration at 202 for the loss of only a solitary wicket.
Set an impossible target of 291 off 17 overs to win, Thurstan were
90 for 2 at stumps. |
