Have faith in them
By Ishani Ranasinghe
“Faith is one thing that will help us get through the tragedy,” says Chamindra Gunawardena, project chairperson of “Faith, an expression of emotion through music.”

‘Waves of Hope,’ was initiated by the Interact District in the wake of tsunami disaster to help out with the rebuilding of schools that were destroyed. Rotary in Sri Lanka has taken on 25 schools to rebuild, and the project ‘Waves of Hope’ will be channelling all its proceeds for this purpose.

“Faith, organised by the Interact District is one phase of this project,” says Sashika Silva the District Interact Representat- ive adding that at the moment they have more than 35 schools involved.

As they see it, Faith is what they have and they’re not afraid to say it. Their catch phrase says it all, ‘the best bands in town, all artistes coming together for one cause… Faith.

Seven bands, goodmusic, a venue that’s just fantastic, a crowd of excited young people… what could be more electrifying than an atmosphere of this sort?

Just look at the combination that is tipped to perform… Stigmata, Déjà Vu, Ill-noize, Soul Skinner, Centigradez, Deadlyn 21 and Bathiya and Santhush… Be it rock, alternative, fusion… there’s something for everyone.

Nothing can go wrong with a mix like this. All these bands are performing free of charge. “They have also been helping with the organising,” says Chamindra gratefully. Faith will be held on March 19 at the Viharamahadevi Amphitheatre at 7.00 p.m .
