‘We
are SriLankan’,Song that flies high

SriLankan Airlines is to help the children who are
affected by the tsunami through “ We are Sri Lankan”,
which is its new corporate theme song. This single comes in the
form of a CD and a DVD and will be available in all Sri Lankan Airline
offices and music stores.
The
song artites composed in English by Chris Dhason of Wild Fire fame
has been re written to include Sinhala and Tamil lyrics with the
help of Sunil Perera and S. Sarangan.
Over
20 artisits are rendering vocals to the song. They include Sunil
Perera, Asanthi, Sohan Weerasinghe, Natasha Ratnayake, Damian Wickramathilleke,
Ashanthi, Nivanthi Peiris, Melani Bibile, Kevin Almeida, Erosha
Aluthge, Umariya Sinhawansa, Shane Berengerhobi Perera, Gayan ,
Nilukshi Jayaweerasingham ,S. Sarangan and Derek Wickramanayake.
The
CD and the DVD was launched last week with the presence of SriLankan
Airlines Chairman K. Balapathabendi and all the artistes, who rendered
the vocals to the tri-lingual.
‘SriLankan
Airlines have been involved in helping those who were affected by
the tsunami right from the beginning and will continue to help them
in the future. The national carrier has decided to rebuild Islamabad
Maha Vidyalaya in the East through its charity arm Sri Lankan Cares’
SriLankan Chairman said at the launching ceremony.
The
airline has estimated a sum of Rs 40 million for the project. The
contribution of a day’s salary by all SriLankan Airline employees,
which amounted to 6 million was utilized to initiate the project.
After consulting with the Task Force for Rebuilfing the Nation (TAFREN)
and the Ministry of Education, SriLankan Airlines have signed an
MOU to the effect that it has officially assumed the responsibility
of rebuilding and remodeling the school.
SriLankan
Cares Head Deshini Abeywardenea helping to rebuild Islamabad Vidyalaya
will be the main project undertaken by Sri Lankan Cares during this
year. SriLankan Cares was formed two years ago and one of its major
project is the rehabilitation of Kalawana Mahavidyalaya Ratnapura.
Chris
Dhason who composed the song said that musicians will always be
there to help build up the country The song was originally written
in 2003 as the corporate theme song of Sri Lankan Airlines but after
the tsunami hit the country it has been changed to make it a song
of hope and courage. Chris thanked all the other musicians who joined
in to do the song. |
