They’ve
got something for everyone
By Marisa de Silva
Anno Domini (A.D.)is a four–member
outfit which has a wide repertoire ranging from pop, rock, blues,
ballads, folk, retro, country and oldies, which is one of the main
reasons for the band’s popularity with audiences of all ages.
A.D.
always ensures that there’s something in it for everyone at
all their performances. Some of the main artistes whose music they
perform include the likes of Eric Clapton, The Eagles, CCR, Paul
Simon, Bryan Adams and Don Williams among others.
Though
individually the groups’ members have played in various other
outfits before, A.D. officially started making music as a band around
March last year. The current line-up of the group has a good mix
of talented musicians and vocalists who have mastered both acoustic
and non-acoustic music styles. Adrien de Niese (Guitar) was a part
of the Duo ‘Us 2’. Suraj Gunawardena, the band’s
bassist cum vocalist made his debut into the music scene as a member
of A.D. Malith Fernando, a former member and vocalist of ‘Quest’,
joins A.D. as vocalist and guitarist replacing Prageeth Jerome.
One of the founder members of ‘Damage’ Shehan Perera,
makes his contribution via vocals and guitar.
As
of January this year A.D. performs at the Molly’s Irish Pub
every Wednesday from 8 p.m. onwards, and the Deli Market, World
Trade Centre, every Friday from 6.30 p.m. onwards. In addition they
also take on weddings, parties and the like, A.D. where they employ
the skill of keyboardist Prasad Perera as the repertoire and the
music for such events vary. |
