Company
MD, employee in alleged commission fraud
The Colombo Fort Magistrate granted bail to two suspects allegedly
involved in misappropriating over rupees five million from Prime
Carbon Lanka (Pvt) Company.
The
director of the company had complained to the CID that the suspects,
Sisira Amarasekera, the Managing Director of the company and P.N.
Cooray, an employee, had committed the crime by producing false
documents and collecting the said sum as commissions.
The
company policy was to grant a three percent commission on export
orders of activated carbon through them by outsiders. The CID investigations
disclosed that the suspects had allegedly prepared vouchers for
some outsiders, stating that they had arranged foreign buyers and
collected the commissions.
They
had also allegedly forged documents for credit cards stating that
they were employees of the company. The suspects were released on
bail and their passports impounded. They were also ordered to appear
before the CID every Sunday between 9.00 a.m and 12.00 noon. |
