for national pool
Intense focus on players

The national squad will be at training under coach George Simpkin
today at the CH & FC grounds commencing at 8.00 a.m. All national
pool players are requested to be present for training at the venue
with their playing kits ready. The national selectors led by Dr
Maiya Gunasekera selected a pool of 43 players.
Maiya
speaking to the Sunday Times said that there will be more players
drafted to the pool if they perform well in the Caltex League league
tournament first round matches this month.
The
national side will take wing to play Thailand on June 4 and then
host Singapore on June 25 in Colombo. These matches played for the
Rugby World Cup 2007 Asian qualifiers will see three of the Asian
regions taking part in the 2007 Rugby World Cup hosted by France.
In the earlier World Cup in 2003 the Asian country was given only
a solitary position in it. |
