Vasantha Obeysekere film festival on Rupavahni
Two top award-winning films made by experienced filmmaker Vasantha Obeysekere will be telecast on Rupavahini channel. For the first time on television, the two films “Dadayama” (The hunt) and “Dorakada Marawa” will be telecast on Friday May 6 and May 13 at 9.35 pm on Rupavahini respectively.

‘Dadayama’ is rated as one of the best twenty-five films produced in the history of fifty years of Sri Lankan cinema history and it won nine Presidential Awards including Best Film, best Director and Best Actor. Dadayama in which Ravindra Randeniya and Swarna Mallawarachchi played the lead roles also won seven Sarasaviya awards.

‘Dorakada Marawa’ released in 1998 won a critic award for Sangeetha Weeraratne for her commendable acting and the film represented film festivals in America and India. Others in the cast are Sanath Gunathilake, G. W. Surendra, Veena Jayakody and Sathischandra Edirisinghe.
