Clash
of the Titans
Leading rock bands, Stigmata and Paranoid Earthling will soon fight
a ‘friendly battle’ We’ve heard of great armies
throughout history battling it out on the war field for religious
beliefs, country or kin. Well we’ve heard of the famous saying
“When Two World’s Collide” – guess what?
It’s actually going to happen. On May 21, rock’s leading
stalwarts Stigmata and Paranoid Earthling will fight it out (friendly
competition or otherwise!), playing two scintillating sets comprising
their unique originals and cover versions of popular mainstream
and underground rock and metal artistes.
These
two bands have vehemently carved a distinctive niche for themselves
in Sri Lanka and around the globe with their original compositions,
blistering stage performances and relentless musical prowess and
will stage ‘Clash of the Titans’. Both bands are capable
of drawing a crowd of at least a 1000 die-hard fans and have clasped
hands to organise the musical event of the year. It will be quite
an event as it would be interesting to watch both bands strum out
their war cries with each of their respective followings backing
them!
Stigmata
No strangers to the Sri Lankan music industry, the band
was formed in 1999 and has played in countless shows building an
amazing cult-like following. The year 2003 saw the release of Stigmata’s
debut concept album ‘Hollow Dreams’ drawing impressive
reviews and acclaim. The ‘Hollow Dreams’ launch concert
featured Paranoid Earthling drawing a stunning crowd and selling
all 600 copies that night. ‘Hollow Dreams’ has now sold
a little over 6000 copies while the band has evolved into an innovative
progressive five-piece, recording its next album due out in July
or August.

Earthling

with their energetic live shows, original compositions and rebellious
intent. Paranoid Earthling released their debut single “Pull
Me Under” in 2003 which became a HUGE hit. The band’s
hard rock meets punk style has catapulted the band to hierarchy
status. The band will launch their debut three-track EP on the day
of the gig at just 250 Rupees! Paranoid Earthling hopes to record
and release their album this year. Check out their second track
“69” which is an in-your-face, power anthem that will
