You walk into a
party, as if you’re walking onto a yacht… You know what,
if you have the right clothes you can walk in anywhere feeling just
fabulous. The clothes at En Trance In Couture are just that: trendy,
stylish and exclusive.
Last
November the shop, a joint venture by Esha Wewalla and Dimuthu Dias,
opened its doors to the public. In order to get a glimpse of a collection
that was not only very trendy, but also very elegant, we met up
with Esha, the designer behind the collection for a quick chat.
It
is evident that this is one designer who loves to keep things simple,
but still makes an impact with her designs. The clothes are simple,
yet they have a sense of style that is definitely eye catching.
Something I found really interesting about their collection is the
fact that each one that comes out has a theme behind it. This week’s
spread carries the ‘Vintage’ look.
A
collection woven around a certain theme… It is an interesting
concept for a clothes retailer. “We wanted to create designs
on different themes,” says Esha adding that this makes wearing
the clothes a very interesting and different experience. The reaction
she got from her customers for the whole ‘theme concept’
has been great – “People are very excited about it.”
En
Trance In Couture… A name like that would make anyone stop
and ponder. For those of us who don’t know our French, the
name means ‘capture.’ “It is something like going
on a journey,” adds Esha with a smile. All their designs seem
to have a French twist with some of their collections labelled Jeaune,
Toujour and Belle Femme – names for their teenage, everyday
office wear and the over-forty lines.
For
a store that emphasises on designer-wear, their collections are
reasonably priced. They are worth the price you pay. With only about
six items made of each design, dropped into different sections,
one thing you can be sure of is that your outfit will be unique.
Because the clothes are very limited, the prices are justified.
“These are clothes that anyone can wear with confidence knowing
no one else will have it,” adds Esha.
“We
have something for everyone who comes and our clothes can be mixed
and matched,” she says, adding that in the future they hope
to add a line for men and children to their collection. An eveningwear
collection, where there will be only one outfit available from each
design, is also on the cards.
While
Esha designs all the clothes that are available at the shop she
gets people to sew them under her supervision. They also have a
very select collection of shoes and bags, which she says they have
picked up from their trips overseas, “We are planning on putting
out our own stuff on this line as well.”
Clothes
shops… there sure are a lot of them here in Colombo. So is
this any different from the rest. “We are different…
very much,” came the prompt and firm reply. |
