             Aravinda
              de Silva denies…
With reference to the article published in the Sunday Times of 08th
May 2005 titled "Interim committee don pads for their innings",
by Marlon Fernandopulle, I would be grateful if the following clarification
could be carried as the article refers to me with regard to my position
in the ICC -Cricket Committee which are factually incorrect.
             I
have not spoken or stated to any member of the Interim Committee,
the media or any other person that I have declined to serve in the
ICC Cricket Commiittee (ICC-CC) for which I was nominated by Sri
Lanka Cricket and continue to serve even today.
             In
fact, the ICC has been continuously communicating with me with regard
to the ICC-CC meeting on the 16th of May in Dubai and has sent me
all the discussion topics, related documents and all travel arrangements
              have been finalized.

Sports Editor adds: Since then, former Sri Lanka skipper Arjuna
Ranatunge has replaced Aravinda de Silva at the ICC - Cricket Committee
and is scheduled to leave the island for Dubai this afternoon. |
