Kandy
lads and lasses show their prowess
National Pentathlon Swimming Championships

The lads and lasses from the hill capital showed
their skills in the water as Trinity College Kandy (TCK) and Mahamaya
College Kandy (MCK) emerged overall champions at the National Pentathlon
Swimming Championships ended at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium,
yesterday.
Migara
Hulangamuwa and Heshan Unamboowa of Trinity won the under 10 under
14 age group categories while Ayeshika Jaywardene and Sunethra Wijewardena
of Mahamaya won the under 10 and 12 age group in the girls categories.
The
other age groups saw Kanith Munasinghe of Royal winning the Under
12 boys championship, Michael Abesysinghe taking the Under 16 (Rainbow
Academy) and Milinda Wickramasinghe (St. Joseph's) under 19 category
.
In
the Girls' events, besides Mahamaya the other winners were Milruwani
Samarakoon and Preba Darmadasa of Asian International in theUnder
14 and 16 category and the under 19 age group was won by Chathuri
Abeykoon of Ladies College.
Migara
Hulangamuwa broke the individual medley record when he clocked 3
minutes and 14.61 seconds in the under 10 category while Heshan
Unamboowa broke the under 14 record in the backstroke when he timed
1 minute and 9.73 seconds.
Results
Boys: 1 - Trinity College; 2 - Royal College; 3 - St.
Joseph's College.
Girls: 1. Mahamaya College; 2. Hillwood College; 3. - Ladies College.
