Manuel returns to ICC Umpire Panel
The ICC announced it's International Emirates Panel of Umpires and
Refrees for this year. According to an ICC media release there were
no changes to the Elite Panel of Umpires as all eight candidates
Steve Bucknor,David Shepherd,Simon Taufel,Daryl Harper,Darrell Hair,Aleem
Dar,Billy Bowden and Rudi Koertzen retained their positions after
completing a highly successful year.
Peter
Manuel returned to the ICC Emirates International Panel of umpires
which is made up of three umpires from each country..Manuel who
lost his place to Gamini Silva last year regained his position along
with Asoka De Silva and Tyronne Wijeyawardene.
ICC
Chief Executive Malcolm Speed was quoted in a press release saying,
"Cricket umpires have perhaps the hardest job in international
sport but over the last 12 months the members of the Emirates Elite
Panel have been a credit to their profession," said Mr Speed.
"During
this period they have consistently averaged a success rate of over
94 per cent in their decision making. Over the next 12 months we
look forward to continuing to work with all of these officials to
maintain and improve this aspect of the game."
The
ICC Emirates Panel of Refrees also remained unchanged with the exception
of Gundappa Vishwanath who ended his three year contract.The Refrees
are Chris Broad.
