Not
quite diplomatic
A former Sri Lankan ambassador to Vienna, all the worse
for the free alcohol on the flight from Bangkok to Colombo, was
overheard by the many awaiting their luggage at the Katunayake airport,
proclaiming at the top of his voice that the Foreign Ministry had
been so unpatriotic in recalling him ahead of time. Names of 'unpatriotic'
very senior Ministry officials were announced for the benefit of
all.
And
then to the amusement of some and the annoyance of many, the ambassador
broke into a raucous baila 'Santaanam ammoo.... kapaa demmoo'.
