Pardoe
and Gray to train local drivers
Two highly qualified motor racing driver trainers Andy Pardoe and
Rob Gray from England are due to arrive in Sri Lanka June 13 to
fine tune the racing skills of the local drivers. This is a programme
initiated by the newly elected Sri Lanka Automobile Sports Governing
Council who has made arrangements to fly them down on a ten-day
assignment, which is done for the first time ever in Sri Lanka.
The
two trainers have tremendous experience in this field with Pardoe
being a former director training of the world renowned Jim Russell's
training school in England who is presently the consultant to Formula
BMW Asia Series programme while Gray possesses enviable credentials
in racing driver training. In the ten days that the duo will be
here they will be training 20 Formula drivers and 40 salon car drivers
at the Pannala International Racing track.
Well
known drivers of Sri Lanka Ranjith Jinasena and Rohan de Silva along
with Namaz Fowzie have been assigned to handle the local arrangements
for the implementation of a successful programme for those attending
the course.
The
Sri Lanka Racing Drivers Union requests its members who have already
been informed regarding the programme that will cost Rs. 17,500/-
per participant for the two day course and that registration for
the programmes is limited which will be on a first come first served
basis.
The
racing programme will include classroom and practical sessions covering
braking, shifting, heel and toe and cornering techniques. There
will be training regarding racing lines, circuit lapping and race
