Musical
treat from SLBC
'Musical Gems', a fortnightly musical treat on SLBC's English services
from 1.25 pm to 2.30 pm will come alive from Sunday, June 5. 'Musical
Gems' will feature music groups and musical personalities from Sri
Lanka.
The
show will explore the possibility of accommodating foreign artistes
visiting Sri Lanka. Initially, 'Musical Gems on Stage' will be broadcast
live from the Ananda Samarakoon Studio linking with Studio 3 Commercial
Service.
Arrangements
will be made to obtain television coverage subsequently with Sri
Lankan Rupavahini. The first show will kick off today afternoon,
on Sunda, June 5, at 1.25 p.m. featuring the front-line musical
outfit from Moratuwa "EBONY" with a couple of top notch
entertainers.
The
Chairman of the SLBC Hudson Samarasinghe, a renowned broadcaster
has made a dedicated contribution in promoting Sri Lankan musical
talent. During his career in broadcasting he has paved the way for
many musicians to come up the ladder.
His
inclination towards the sphere of music has been instrumental in
making "Musical Gems on Stage" a reality. The objective
of the Show primarily, is to identify, nurture and promote the vast
musical potential available in Sri Lanka through the audio/visual
media making it a platform and a stepping stone to reach music lovers
scattered all over the island, to recognize, inspire and sustain
the professional musical entity in Sri Lanka giving them the opportunity
to display their expertise, update the repertoire and reach the
music loving public at large, to bring to the doorstep of our numerous
listeners/viewers a sampling of a veriety of music and entertainment.
'Musical
Gems on Stage' will be directed by Sunil Simon, Consultant Commercial
Programmes and presented by Bevil Palihawadana and Gladwin Willie.Dominique
Perera will act as the producer while the technicalities will be
handled by Chaminda Sakalasuriya. Nalin de Silva will serve as the
Coordinator. |
