Trinco magistrate receives death threat

Trincomalee Magistrate R. Thiyagendran hearing the case of the disputed Buddha statue has received death threats from an unknown Tamil group which wants him to give what it calls a "fair decision".

The letter in Tamil has been signed by a group calling itself the Tamil Vigilante Group and delivered to the Magistrate who is due to take up the case on Monday.

The magistrate has handed over the letter to Police for investigations.
