Versatile Chaminda wants to create music for films
The guy on our cover , Chaminda Samaranayake is a versatile musician, DJ and a teledrama music director. Chaminda started his musical career when he was a student at Richmond College, Galle. In 1993 he started a musical group, a band and named it "Red Heart". This group was formed in College soon after the O/L exam.

He was supported by Sampath, the bass guitarist, the band leader, Deleepa the drummer, Palliyaguru the octopad player. Percy the vocalist and Tharindu the lead guitarist: after leaving college in 1996 he came to Colombo and started a one man band called "Ridma" in 1997 with the support of his beloved wife Sajitha.

He was supported by Hemantha, Ananda Marapana, and Dhanuska in the vocals, wherever he goes for his bookings. Chaminda learned music from Visharadha Deepananda Kudahety of St. Aloysius College Galle and afterwards from Nihal Gamhewa from National Youth Centre Maharagama.

Chaminda introduced new music compositions for talented young vocalists. He directed music in a recent teledrama named ‘Sankranthi Mohotha’ directed by Ratna Pushpakumara. He is also involved in training the children in the Lama Kusalatha Sanwardhana programme, in Borella.

This programme was telecast recently and it become a monthly programme in TV/Lanka. Chaminda learns computer music at present from Diluk Gabad amudali. He says his wife Sajitha, parents, uncle Robert Samaranayake and Mrs Ratna Rushpakumari paved the way for his smusical career.

Cover girl Diana is a teledrama actress and an Audio Visualist. She plays a role in the tele Drama "Nikini Vessa". She is in an audio visual song by Karunaratne Divulgane.
