Relax
to a smooth harmony
It’s been a year since Anno Domini (A.D.) began making its
own blend of acoustic music and the celebration of this comes in
the form of a tribute to all AD fans and acoustic music lovers with
an evening of unplugged music on June 24 at the Deli Market, World
Trade Centre, starting 6.30 p.m.
Shehan
Perera (formerly of “Damage” – Vocals/Guitar),
Malith Fernando (formerly of “Quest”– Vocals/
Guitar), Adrien de Niese (Guitar) and Suraj Gunawardena (Bass/Vocals)
– the members forming Anno Domini were drawn together because
of a passion for acoustic music. Since getting together A.D. has
steadily progressed towards achieving its goal of creating a distinct
sound and identity of its own. The past year saw A.D. perform regularly
at some of Colombo’s hippest hangouts including the Deli Market,
Water’s Edge, Molly’s Irish Pub and Zanziba.
The
first anniversary celebration will feature a number of artistes
who will perform along with A.D. for the event. Already many artistes
of similar musical inclinations including Flame, Ad Lib, Devashrie
De Silva, Kavitha Gunasekera, and Nadeen Samarasekera have joined
hands to make the evening something special. A.D. expects many more
performers to add colour to the evening with a variety of performances.
Commencing
with an opening act by Flame, the evening will explore the many
possibilities and dimensions of acoustic music, with the artistes
performing their own renditions of hits. To make the event even
more momentous Anno Domini also plans to perform two originals,
namely “Saved” and “How Can You” written
by Shehan which are to be performed live for the first time. The
Deli Market’s ambience coupled with its wide variety of food
and beverages will enhance the evening’s experience.
In
order to provide all music lovers the opportunity of enjoying a
perfect musical experience, Anno Domini has made arrangements to
make the gig accessible to all, free of an entrance charge. So if
you are into smooth harmonies, guitars and classic renditions, make
a date with A.D. on their first anniversary! |
