Remember all have deadlines
The UNP had its weekly press conference on Thursday. Journalists were asked to come at 11.30 a.m. but things didn’t get started well past 12.00 noon. The reason was the arrival of the television crew from a private station was being awaited.

And for those media personnel who came on time, they were left kicking their heels. Next time they should make sure all their favourites arrive and then tell the other journalists to come because if the organisers of these briefings don’t already know - we all have deadlines to meet without exception.

State TV in turmoil
The State-run Rupavahini is in turmoil once again. With the Media Minister quitting and the JVP abandoning camp, the Chairman has been sending the word that it will be he who will leave next.

He has passed word that he will no longer be responsible for any of the happenings at the Corporation and telling people not to come to him for instructions as he is “voiceless” and may quit the post at anytime.
With some JVP politicians calling the Corporation “Janadhipathivahini”, the Corporation’s stature is sure to grow.
