Dangayanta Pamanai; Tale of a mischievous little boy

'Dangayanta Pamanai' (For the mischievous only) directed by popular musician and singer Luxman Wijesekara is telecast every Friday at 8.15 pm on ITN channel from June 3.


Woven around a little mischievous boy the miniplay stars Jayanath Bandara, Priyanka Samaraweera, Irangani Serasinghe, Chandra Kaluarachchi, Gihan Fernando, Udayanthi Wijesurendra Tissa Wijesurendara, Susila Kottage, Nayana Hettiarachchi and child actors Thushara Chamikara, Diluka Karunatilake and Isuri Navodya.


Script Chamika Hatlahawatta. The story revolves around "Tikiri" a little bundle of mischief. Tikiri, the only son of parents, both clerks, working in the same office and he studies in grade three in a public school in the city.
While the parents are away this young boy is looked after by an "Amma" whose duty includes taking him to school and bringing him back. But due to Tikiri's mischievous behaviour, his parents have to look for a new "Amma" to look after their son and this has become an ordeal for the parents.


At first Tikiri studied at a village school and then his father and mother prepared a false address to enroll\ him in the city school. Since Tikiri liked the village school, he tells the truth to the principal about his parent's action. For doing this he gets scolded from his parents. But unexpectedly the principal decides to keep him and this is due to Tikiri's honesty.
However Tikiri dislikes the city school, because of the distance and due to his inability to meet his village friends. This result is; Tikiri keeps on behaving mischievously.


Everybody who was near and dear to him gets disgusted with him and this is due to his mischievous behaviors which causes trouble for them. But Tikiri is sad about this and finds a dreamy world of his own.


Living in this fantasy world he come across many mischievous characters like him and they all get on well with Tikiri. The new friends, Snow White, Cinderella, Jack, Superman and fairies get close to Tikiri. With the help of these friends Tikiri becomes sensitive to nature and he acquires the knowledge and an instinctive awareness about everything around him. Tikiri also acquires the gift to talk to objects in his environment, the wind, the river, the leaves and they make friends with him. He tells these things to his schoolmates and parents but no one believes him.


But he finds one, a girl friend from his school, Sandamali who consents to give him a hearing. Soon the two become good friends.
Sandamali persuades Tikiri to be good and she shows him the beauty spots in the school. In return Tikiri tells her stories about the dream world and he teaches her how she could speak with the environment and Sandamali takes Tikiri to visit her family. Seeing Sandamali's family members such as her grandmother, Tikiri is reminded of the kind grandmother in the chocolate house in the dream world. Both of them learn from the grandmother the stories of those heros who conquered the world. A desire arises in Tikir's mind to become a hero.


And this brings a new discovery for the little boy's life.
