CIMA
members congratulate outgoing President
A large number of members and well wishers gathered at the 17th
Annual General Meeting to congratulate outgoing President Claude
Perera for a very successful year.
On
Wednesday, Claude Perera handed over the insignia of office to Lalith
Fonseka, Jt. Managing Director, Mackwoods Ltd who takes over for
the 2005/06 year.
The
consensus of the opinion was that during the last year the profile
of CIMA has been raised very high through the many events that were
planned culminating in the international conference, CIMA said in
a statement.
“Members felt that because of the high esteem with which the
division was held employers were continuing to recruit CIMA members
and students to their organisations. Parents too felt that the CIMA
qualification gave children an accelerated start to their professional
life,” it said.
Commenting on the CIMA Global Leaders Summit members said that the
Division should be congratulated for inviting world leaders to share
their experience not only with the CIMA members but also with the
business community at large of the country. Members thanked the
president for inviting them for the conference. Claude Perera said,
“In view of the unprecedented demand at the registrations
for the conference, we invited all members who wish to come for
the inauguration to write in and collect their invitation. I am
pleased that about 50% of the participants at the conference were
CIMA Members.
This
shows a great increased interest among members about the events
we are organising” Ms. Ramya Mendis, a past president was
felicitated with the Institute Bronze Medal. |
