How
come?
An American psychiatrist was visiting a camp in Vakarai, Batticaloa
last week to help traumatized children. He stood in front of the
crowd and the first question he asked was “So which one of
you is traumatized?”
And all this time we thought it was the job of the psychiatrist
to diagnose that.
Even
the dogs follow
The JVP held a public meeting at the Colombo Town Hall on Wednesday
to protest against the P-TOMS agreement.
Party
Secretary General Tilvin Silva was scoffing at claims by a seasoned
Government minister from the hills who had claimed that eight JVP
members were supporting the agreement. Not so, said Mr. Silva.
“When
our party makes a decision, it is not only all of us who follow
it but even the dogs in our houses follow,” he boasted. With
all the talk of the country having gone to the dogs, it may not
be far from the truth.
Jockeying for selection
The Central Committee of the SLFP was scheduled to meet
on Thursday but the meeting was abruptly postponed.
When
a scribe queried from a party official the reason for the postponement,
he said it was because of the election of the Diyawadana Nilame.
All
the rivalry surrounding the election of the Diyawadana Nilame sure
fades into insignificance when one sees the many hopefuls within
the SLFP ranks vying to be its candidate for the next Presidential
polls. |
