Flexi
time figures at National HR Conference
The 12th National Human Resources Conference last week saw Guest
of Honour, Prof. Ronel Erwee, Director of the Australian Graduate
School of Business, University of Southern Queensland, doling out
a formula for developing women employees in organisations.
“There
are large benefits in implementing flexi time (when businesses allow
staff to choose when to come in to work and when to leave), job
sharing and work at home arrangements and this is one way for organisations
to develop women and their careers,” she said. She said that
women tend to be very loyal to their employers than their male counterparts.
“In Australia, the length of service of female staff in organisations
is more than that of the male staff,” she said, adding that
this part of Asia is a potential powerhouse in developing human
resources and women employees in particular.
She
said offering career breaks and parental leave systems as well as
dependent care resources for women in order to look after elder
members in the family are some innovative steps that companies can
take to develop women employees. She said that offering management
development programmes for women is important to develop women employees.
The Conference also had the President of the World Federation of
Personnel Management Associations, Dr. Geoff Armstrong as the Chief
Guest. |
