CSE
re-brands itself with new logo
The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), presently growing at 30 percent,
changed its logo in an effort to re-brand and create a new corporate
identity last Wednesday.
“The
CSE is the ‘most happening’ place in the country and
even the world. It is for this reason that its directors decided
to re-launch the CSE and market the stock exchange,” said
CSE Chairman Eraj Wijesinghe, introducing the new logo, a silver
coloured triaxial ribbon.
It
was conceived, designed and implemented by BrandLabs. The CSE has
recorded the highest volume of trading this year and nearly 30 percent
of trading volumes are coming from its branches and the CSE trading
floor.
“The
market does not crash when there is adverse news or political uncertainty.
The CSE is dubbed one of the fastest growing markets in the world,”
Wijesinghe said, adding that taking all this into account there
was a need to establish a new brand logo which would reflect the
right image of the CSE.
The
name was not changed because the CSE has a long history and its
name is well established throughout the country. “Also the
fact that major cities such as London, Tokyo, Sydney and New York
all maintained their identity using the city name helped us to decide
to retain the same name,” Wijesinghe explained.
He
said the new logo and the old name will help attract large investors,
both in the country and overseas, which the CSE is currently pursuing.
