Jayasri on world music scene
After Anura left the lineup of Jayasri last April, the band was looking for someone to replace the talented guitarist. ‘It was a very sad moment’ said Rohitha “Anura was with the band for more than ten years. We missed him a lot. He wanted to join his family in Sri Lanka. It wascommitment towards loved ones’ Rohitha added.

The new Austrian lead guitarist Matthias Kouba, a final year medicine student, joined Jayasri to fulfill the need. We are very happy with him. In a very short time he got the whole live programme into his own style and it was hard work. We really thankful to Aruna for all that good time we had with him and wish him good luck. The show must go on, so we continue our journey spreading our own Jayasri Sri Lankan music around the world’ Rohitha said in a special mail to TV Times from Austria.

They have performed in number of summer festivals and concerts.
‘We have already performed at the annual Vienna's City Festival, drawing thousands, with some international bands.

‘On the same night we flew to Paris to play for the Tusanmi Aid Concert on the 1st of May. Coming months will be interesting. Concerts and events including international Summer Academy festival in Europe, Greifenstein openair, Asian Night and some tours to Italy, Germany, South Korea are on the cards’ he added

Also Jayasri's North America tour (US and Canada) organized by Entertainment Unlimited Toronto - Canada is scheduled in October-November.
‘We'll be touring New York, L.A, Washington DC, Chicago, Toronto, Montreal and Edmonton’

‘Our winning of Austrian World Music Award in 2003 helped us a lot to break into the genre of World Music scene and we continue most of our music, performances, concerts in this category and we have lot of plans for the future’ Rohitha said in his letter.

Jayasri's third album is getting into shape slowly and steadily in their own style with some interesting text and music.

‘There will be two or three songs which are written by some of our Jayasri fans. The music will be in world music genre with our own identity and hoping to release it by the end of this year. Also some video clips are in progress with our Austrian director France Aigner, which you will see in Sri Lankan TV soon. "JAYASRI Live in Vienna" DVD is released and can order online at www.visione.tv’ he said. ‘As usual we'll be coming home in December for the festive season’ he added.
