‘Kinduru
Adaviya’ : Multi faceted story
Stage play producer and actor director Susil Gunaratne's latest
teledrama direction 'Kinduru Adaviya' is now telecast on Rupavahini
channel at 7.30 pm every Monday .
Journalist
by profession Susil has earlier directed 'Parevi Denuwa', 'Siwsiya
Gawwa', 'Kinduru Adaviya' and Maruk Mal' for the miniscreen. He
also had contributed in acting nearly ten stage plays, about twenty
five teledramas and a few films.
His
newest teledrama revolves around a situation where a young couple
who plans to start a new life and the obstacle they had to face
for being honest and sincere.
The
cast in Kimduru Adaviya are Sriyantha Mendis, Semini Iddamalgoda,
Meena Kumari, Jayantha Bopearchchi, Gamini Hettiarachchi, Wijeratne
Warakagoda, Rebecca Nirmalee, Badra Nandani, Nalin Pradeep Uduwela,
Chitra Warakagoda, G. R. Perera, Diluni Ranasinghe, Jayantha Abeyratne
and many others.
Savithri
is a pretty young woman who works in a private bank as an executive.
Being the only child she has been lavished with love. Her father
Vipula is a Customs officer and a landed proprietor. Her mother
Irene is born and bred in the city. Although Vipula owns a palatial
old house and a coconut estate they live in a luxurious house with
all facilities in the suburbs of Colombo. Vipula has a dream of
living in his ancestral house once he retires. His wife Irene who
is used to the city has no such idea.
One
day Savithri goes to a shop to buy some jewellery. The owner of
the shop is a handsome young man called Rohan. After a short friendship
with Savithri, Rohan brings in a proposal of marriage. An engagement
takes place with the blessing of both parties.
Rohan
who comes from a rich business class family has an only brother.
He smuggles a lot of gold and is caught by the customs. Rohan had
no idea about his brother's illegal activities. Rohan's parents
seeking ways to release their son remembers Savithri's father.
They
put pressure on Rohan asking him to seek assistance from Savithri's
father to save his brother. Rohan does not agree to this scheme.
Rohan's parents decides to seek help from Savithri's father, Vipula
rejects their plea. As a result Rohan's family decide against Rohan
and Savithri's marrige.
But the couple plans to for ahead with their wedding and go abroad.
On the day of the wedding there are preparations for a simple ceremony.
But
the bridegroom doesn't turn up. Savithri takes sleeping tablets
and has to be hospitalized. Meanwhile Savithri's father receives
death threats from an unidentified person. Vipula's superior is
killed. Vipula decides to shift to the village with his family.
Janaka
is a proprietary planter. His father was a carter in Vipula's estate.
Janaka is ambitious and hopes to own Vipula's estate (where his
father worked) one day.
He
has promised Anupama his private secretary to marry her one day.
When Janaka meets Savithri he sees a way to own the land. Yet Savithri
he sees a way to own the land. Yet Savithri is not willing to marry
Janaka although her parents are happy to accept Janaka as a son-in-law.
What will happen when Rohan's parents get to know about the marriage?
Who knows about Janaka's secret plans? What is Anupama's reaction
to Janaka's broken promise and the forthcoming marriage?

the lyrics written by Dr. Sunil Ariyaratne, Visharadha Nanda Malani
and Edward Jayakody rendered their voice for playback singing.
