CID
probing new phone angle in Royal Park killing
By Asif Fuard
The CID investigating the murder of Yvonne Jonsson at the Royal
Park condominium are now investigating into new leads based on the
phone calls by the chief suspect Shramantha Jayamaha on the night
of the crime.
The CID is trying to get a telephone analysis in an effort to track
down the persons whom the suspect was in contact with and establish
the motive for the killing.
The
suspect’s fingerprints on the girl’s clothing were detected
and other evidence had been submitted for DNA testing. “There
was speculation that the parents had burnt the suspect’s clothes,
but the blood-stained clothes are not necessary as we have collected
substantial evidence”, a CID source said.
The
CID also took prints from the crime scene of a blood-stained fingerprint
of the suspect found on a wall. The DNA test results are due in
three weeks.
The case is to be taken up again tomorrow before acting magistrate
Amali Ranaweera who has ordered that the JMO reports be submitted
to courts. |
