Trinity
demolish Vidyartha
Trinity 48 - Vidyartha 3
By Aubrey Kuruppu
Trinity sent their fans into raptures, turning on the style to post
a roistering 48 points (5 goals, 2 tries, 1 penalty) to 3 ( 1 penalty)
win over Vidyartha in their rugby match at Nittawela yesterday.
Early
mistakes by Vidyartha were punished by a Pushpakumara penalty. But
Charitha Seneviratne crossed it out with a similar effort. However
a try by winger S. Mendis and another by the other winger Kosala
Tissera, all in the space of five minutes, delivered the knock out
punch. A super solo effort from fly half Pushpakumara saw trinity
take lemons at 22/3.
In
the second half there were tries from Y. Senanayake, substitute
winger M.A. Basith and the best one of all by winger Mendis who
hared all of sixty yards to score. Vidyartha competed in the first
ten minutes or so and then, demoralised, they offered hardly any
opposition. Referee: Aruna Rankothge.
Under 12 Trinity won 28/7, U-14 Trinity 33/0 12/6 Trinity 31-3. |
