‘It's
All Calypso’
‘It's all Calypso’ is the latest concert organised by
‘Chandimal and the Second Connection’ on August 18 at
the BMICH at 7.00 pm. ‘This is my tenth concert and the purpose
behind this concert is to promote Sri Lankan Calypso music. This
will be an annual event and most of the singers did agree to help
me in this project’ said Chandimal.
‘It's
all Calypso’ will feature the band ‘Chandimal and the
Second Connection’ as the main attraction. Errol Fernando,
Sunil Perera, Dalreen, Susil Fernando, La Bamabas, Paul Fernando,
Annesley Malawana, Indrani Perera, Noel and La Ceylonians, Mahesh
and Sohan will be performing as guest artistes with ‘Chandimal
and the Second Connection’.
There
will be about 25 old calypso songs that are billed to be sung at
the show. Also three new songs created by Chandimal will be sung
by Sunil, Dalreen and Mahesh. The dance acts will be presented by
Dance World, El Latino and Channa’s Dance Troupe.
‘There
will be lots of Latin dancing for calypsos’ he said. The show
will be compered Clifford Richards. ‘I will be launching three
of my new CDs and DVDs on this day including the new creation "Punsanda
Paaya" as Worlds Longest Song’ he added.
Since
the theme is Calypso at this concert, everybody including the band
members will be in batik and straw hats to add more colour to the
show . |
