PCCSL
goes hi-tech for work efficiency
The Press Complaints Commission of Sri Lanka (PCCSL) has taken measures
to improve speed and efficiency in resolving complaints against
newspapers.
The measure has been made possible with the introduction of a fully
computerized Information Management System for the PCCSL. The system
features a “Complaint Tracker” software inspired by
a system used by the Press Complaints Commission of the UK, but
tailored specially to meet specific local requirements, a press
release said.
The
PCCSL has during its one-and-a-half years of existence received
and entertained 350 complaints against articles published in local
newspapers.
“The majority of these have been resolved with the goodwill
and co-operation of the respondent Editors. A few which have required
arbitration have gone before the PCCSL’s independent Dispute
Resolution Council chaired by Sam Wijesinha”, the press release
said. |
