Dialog Telekom, the country’s most profitable company with
a Rs.4.1 billion profit, is gearing to diversify into media related
telecommunications such as mobile television.
“Broadcasting
and communication technologies are areas that are merging and synergies
in this field are a strong possibility,” Dialog Telekom Ltd.
Chairman, Tan Sri Dato Mansoor told The Sunday Times FT, adding
that the company will expand into other related areas soon.
“We
are looking more at wireless options, because it is our forte in
Sri Lanka. Our main growth area will be cellular and we will like
to co-exist with Sri Lanka Telecom,” he emphasised, adding
that broadband and mobile television are areas the company is pursuing
in the near future.
