Taj Television denies
Taj Television denied that any of their technicians have been involved in any misdeeds or associated with the local underworld following reports in a Saturday newspaper that accused the Television broadcasting company of links with the underworld.

Speaking to the Sunday Times last evening Taj TV Marketing Director Jude de Valliers said,”We do not employ any technicians at Taj TV.Our crew comprises around sixty odd persons and most of them, around 95% are non Sri Lankans. None of these guys were involved in any misdeeds as reported in a newspaper”.

According to a newspaper report on Saturday a group of technicians that travelled to Dambulla to fix lighting for a television company at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium was arrested by the Police on suspicion that they were underworld figures masquerading as technicians in the group.

However De Valliers admitted that they do get free lance helpers locally through a sub contractor to carry out certain odd jobs as and when necessary.According to the Taj official it is some of these guys that were involved in the incident that was reported.-MF
