Killer
vehicle in use by MP for long time: residents
Though MP Palitha Ranga Bandara has claimed the vehicle involved
in last week’s fatal accident was taken from a car sales centre
the day prior to the accident with the promise of purchasing it,
residents confirm they noticed the vehicle with the MP for the last
two years.
A
lady identified as M.A. Emalin Fernando (87) a mother of six, who
was returning from Iranawila to Madampe, was knocked down by this
vehicle.
Accompanying the MP was the driver, his security guard and two women
at the time of the incident. Police investigations revealed that
the person who was in the driving seat did not have a licence.
The
MP has been using the unregistered vehicle with the garage number
plate WPC 0163 for the last two years, according to residents. He
has reportedly been using this vehicle to attend sessions in Parliament
which can be confirmed from reports at the police garage in Parliament.
