Neththara:
Sharing the Lankan spirit
By Tharangani Perera
‘Bathiya and Santhush’ the local R&B sensation,
will create yet another firestorm among their fans at ‘Neththara-Live’
the final concert of the ‘Neththara’ series on August
16, at the Sirimavo Bandaranayake Memorial International Conference
Hall (new wing of BMICH.) This concert, organised by the Interact
District 3220, is expected to attract a crowd of around 2000 fans
and will also feature Randir, Channa Wijewardena’s dancing
crew, Shan’s Freestyle and Street Dancers, Nirosha Virajinee,
Shiraz & Rajiv and Ashanthi de Alwis.
Bathiya
and Santhush, who have proven to be two of the most ingenious producers
and music directors in the country by creating a revolutionary new
rhythm in Sri Lanka’s music industry, are currently a part
of many collaboration projects.
The
style of their new concert series ‘Neththara’ is novel
to the Sri Lankan audience, as it’s an extension of ‘Sri
Lankan Spirit’ combined with a touch of both western and Indian
flair.
“The
concert will have two segments; the Choreographed and the Unplugged,”
says Project Chairman Ruwantha Bandara, adding that it will be the
first time in Sri Lanka that both segments will be performed together
onstage.
The
Choreographed segment will consist of all B‘n’S features
in a sequence where Bathiya and Santhush will be a part of the onstage
dance performance along with Channa Wijewardena’s dance troupe
and Shan’s Freestyle and Street Dancers. The sound and lighting
will be pre-programmed, Neththara and Meeduma Uthurana will be featured
in this segment.
The
Unplugged segment will feature some of the best live material from
B‘n’S albums such as Unmadini, Ran Kurahan Mala and
Tharunyaye, while keeping the audience with the performers throughout.
Neththara-Live,
featuring some of the most celebrated musicians and dancers in Sri
Lanka will bring you some of the most vibrant creations in the recent
history of the Sri Lankan music industry.
So
all you fans out there, put on your dancing shoes and head for the
new wing of the BMICH on August 16 at 7 p.m. sharp. Believe me-
you will not want to miss even one minute of the exquisite night
that this dynamic duo has planned out!
The
Interact District Committee of District 3220 plans to achieve the
true objective of the Interact Movement and to raise public awareness
by executing numerous community service projects, which are to be
financed by the District Funds.
Thus,
proceeds earned by the Bathiya and Santhush concert will be utilised
to fund these community service projects, which will be carried
out by the district committee in the ensuing year.
