Barb
Jungr to support Sunera
Sunera Foundation will hold a Charity Dinner on September 4, at
The Colombo Plaza in support of the Foundation’s programmes.
The highlight of the evening is the performance by popular British
jazz-singer Barb Jungr accompanied by her pianist Russell Churney.
“I
am pleased and proud to be associated with Sunera Foundation. Their
work, using the performing arts in the community and with people
with disabilities, is of great importance in Sri Lanka and in the
world. It is my great pleasure to give any help that I can give
that enables them to continue and to expand their activities,”
said Barb Jungr.
In
March this year, Linn Records released Barb Jungr’s fourth
solo album “Love Me Tender” which had an incredible
response from the public and the critics. The album draws from the
eclectic repertoire of Elvis Presley which Jungr has completely
reconceived. The artiste has previously transformed classic Brel,
Dylan and Ferré songs and for her performance in Sri Lanka
she has prepared a rich music selection from her different albums.
Ms.
Sunethra Bandaranaike, Chairperson of Sunera Foundation said: “Barb
has been an unconditional supporter to Sunera since 2001 and her
commitment to our work highlights her understanding of social development
through artistic expression, which is at the end, what our mission
is all about. I’m thrilled she is back in Sri Lanka, not only
because of her outstanding skills as a performer, but also because
she will remind us all of our capacity to drive positive change
into society.”
Tickets
for “An Evening with Barb Jungr” are available at The
Colombo Plaza lobby.
