Under
19 third test tomorrow
Bernie Wijesekera reporting from England
Scarborough - England under 19 skippered by Varun Chopra, scored
an emphatic 183 run win over Sri Lanka in the second test concluded
at Scarborough on Friday. They lead the series 2-0 now.
The
Sri Lankans though beaten in both matches, gave a gritty performance
in uninviting weather to take the game to the fourth day and gained
a lot of admiration. Manager Ashley de Silva said it was most encouraging.
“The lads adjusted themselves well to the conditions. If they
failed to come on par, it was due to lack of experience”,
said Ashley.
The
team left for Headingley, Leeds for the final test which starts
on Monday They will take wing to Sri Lanka on August 20 from Heathrow.
The chances are that the same team will play in Monday’s test
but there are bound to be some changes in the batting order. Chathura
Herath, who got the nod for the second test, scored 45 (with five
fours and a six) while Lahiru Peiris, who has been amongst the runs,
made 42.
