Louis
turns to ‘Buddha Puthra’
'Buddha Puthra' the latest film from director Louis Vanderstraaten
is a pleasant change from his earlier 'adult only' tag film. 'Buddha
Puthra' is produced by Nimal Sumanasekara and the story is centred
around a Buddha statue stolen from a village.
In
a distant and poor Sinhalese village, a Buddha statue believed to
have miraculous powers is stolen by a young man who visits the village
regularly to find things of antique value. Consequent to the loss
of the Buddha statue, the villagers fear that they would face a
lot of hardships and suffer incurable diseases and much misfortune.
A young
man, 'Dharme' who was brought up by the chief Buddhist monk in the
temple, volunteers to go to the city and get the statue back. The
main cast includes Vasantha Kimaravila, Anusha Damayanthi, Buddhika
Rambukwella, Nimal Sumanasekara and Dayananda Jayawardena.
In
the technical crew Dinesh Kumara handled the camera, M. S. Aliman
did the editing and musical score is by Charaka Madusanka. H. M.
Jayawardena and Asoka Peiris set music for the songs sung by Samantha
Perera, Nilushi Halpita and Chamari Senanayake.
