Ampara
Construction Fair next week
MERCY CORPS in association with the National Chamber of Commerce
of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) and TAFREN are to hold the "Ampara Construction
Fair 2005" on August 27-28 at the Technical College, Samanthurai.
The
exhibition managed by NCCSL Conventions, brings together under one
roof, suppliers from the area, engaged in production of building
material and providing construction related services, as well as
those seeking to source such material and skills primarily from
the local area.
The
event seeks to link up all those parties operating in the Construction
Sector including transporters, designers, banks and other financial
institutions, whilst providing opportunities for the local inhabitants
to locate employment opportunities.
NCCSL
said the objective of this event is to facilitate small businesses
affected by the tsunami to get back into business and regain their
livelihoods as well as expediting the reconstruction effort. Contacts
the exhibitors make at the Construction Fair will help them to identify
construction related opportunities. Participants and visitors will
have the benefits of identifying suppliers of construction materials
and equipment within the region.
Unemployed
or under-employed, skilled and unskilled workers will have access
to international and local Organizations and NGOs engaged in construction,
for future employment.
Furthermore,
suppliers of construction material could increase the standard of
their product whilst Contractors could learn new technologies for
their construction work.
