By Asif Fuard
A grenade was lobbed at a Tamil daily newspaper advertising office
at Wellawatte, but no damage was caused as it went unexploded, Police
said.
The grenade was lobbed by two unidentified persons who had knocked
at the door of the Sudaroli office on the top floor of a building,
police said.
The
double pinned grenade did not explode as only one pin of the grenade
had been removed and detectives said it was probably meant more
as a threat.
The Bomb Squad later defused the grenade.
E.
Saravanabavan, managing Director of Sudaroli and its sister paper,
the Jaffna-based Udayan, said they had got threatening calls from
several political groups opposed to their policies.
