‘Mihidum Sevaneli’: Story of an arrogant SM
'Mihidum Sevaneli', the latest tele drama to hit the small screen has Minister and popular film star Jeevan Kumaratunga playing the lead role.
'Mihidum Sevaneli' telecast at 7.30 pm every Sunday on ITN.

The story based on a plot by Thushara Peiris who also produced the tele drama is about a station master in the upcountry and the crisis his family faces due to his arrogant and sometimes selfish attitudes.

The tele drama was directed by young Roshan Kuruppu who also did justice to his first tele serial 'Adaraneeya Amma' - also produced by Thushara. Mihidum Sevaneli' was completely shot in the Ohiya station area a few months ago and the entire cast worked as a team to make it a successful family drama, producer Thushara Peiris said.

Lead man Jeevan Kumaratunga said he picked the role despite busy schedules, because he loved the concept and especially his role as the station master.
"The role has immense scope to play. According to the story my attitudes seriously affect my family members but I am a father who loves the family. I don't express my love for them openly and that makes me an often misunderstood man," Jeevan said describing his role in Mihidum Sevaneli.

"I may be a minister but acting is my first love and I am not bothered about any image problems. As an actor I must play any role given to me and playing a middle-aged station master was really wonderful," he said.

Besides, Jeevan the other lead roles are played by Nayana Kumari, Bimal Jayakody, Gayani Gisanthika, Kusum Maldeniya, Somasiri Kolambage, Thesara Jayawardane, Sarath Dikkumbura, Buddhadasa Kaluthanthri, Madhuri Karunaratne and others.

Director Roshan Kuruppu, who has qualified in drama and film making at the National Youth Services Council, has given a novel touch to the tele drama which has W. Ravindra as his assistant.

Bimal Jayakody who shot to fame with tele dramas like Hadawila Sakmana and more recently Jeewithayata Idadenna, is playing the role of an assistant station master who falls in love with the station master's daughter - Gayani Gisanthika. Bimal also emerges as a singer, singing 'Sengawee Yanna Meeduma Athare' - almost the theme song in Mihidum Sevaneli.

Kalinga Deshapriya has handled the camera while Uhan Owita was in charge of make up in Mihidum Sevaneli. Sujeewa Gunaratne was the art director of the tele drama.
