NCCSL
commends Kumaratunga’s Beijing speech
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) has praised
President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s speech at the Sino -Sri
Lanka Trade Investment and Tourism Seminar organized by the China
Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and held
at the Sri Lankan Embassy.

President Nirmali Samaratunga, in Beijing as part of the business
delegation accompanying the President, said the Sri Lankan leader’s
speech focused on the many benefits in the area of trade and investment,
what Sri Lanka had to offer to Chinese investors including several
free trade agreements entered into in the region.
She
said the President laid emphasis on the conducive economic climate
prevailing in Sri Lanka and highlighted the role of the private
sector as the engine of growth.
Ms
Samaratunga said the seminar was well attended by Chinese companies
mainly in the areas of infrastructure, construction, tourism and
trade and the delegation had an opportunity of having discussions
on areas of interest.
