Lankan
singer in UN summit promotion ads
NEW YORK-- Prianga Peiris, one half of the singing duo Eranga and
Prianga, is playing the role of a Sri Lankan ambassador in a promotional
advertisement for the upcoming UN summit meeting in New York.
The
TV ads were filmed in the General Assembly hall, with several Sri
Lankan UN staff members volunteering as 'extras'. Prianga played
the part of the chief Sri Lankan delegate to the United Nations,
virtually taking over the role of the real Permanent Representative:
Ambassador Prasad Kariyawasam.
Both
Eranga and Prianga have been appearing on several TV spots, including
one during the Super Bowl games early this year, and also on US
TV network dramas.
The
TV ads for the UN summit will run on major broadcasting networks,
including the American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), the Columbia
Broadcasting System (CBS) and cable outlets such as Comedy Central,
New York 1, Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) and Cable News Network
(CNN.)
The summit, which is scheduled to take place September 14-16, will
be attended by more than 170 world leaders, including Sri Lankan
President Chandrika Kumaratunga.
