Seven new marks established
Seven meet records were established on the first day of the All Island Schools’ Swimming Championship which began at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

The seven records established came in the: - Under 17 50 metre breast stroke by Chanaka Malimbada of Ananda College, under 19 50 metre breast stroke by Gihan de Silva of Thurstan College, under 17 50 metre Butterfly stroke by Chathuri Abeykoone of Ladies College under 17 and under 19 repaly events by Ladies College, under 17 boys relay by Trinity College and under 19 boys relay by St. Joseph’s College.

At the end of the first day Trinity College Kandy led with 19 points to their tally with St. Joseph’s trailing at second place with 17 points.
