The Sunday Times FT Poll on Presidential stakes
The Sunday Times FT, which has been having email surveys on a variety of subjects concerning the business community and the public at large, is now conducting a poll on the forthcoming presidential election and the future of Sri Lanka.

Interested readers of the STFT could respond with a YES, NO or UNDECIDED – answer to the questions below. Additional comments are welcome.

1) The two main presidential candidates are Mr Mahinda Rajapakse and Mr Ranil Wickremesinghe. Which candidate do you think offers a better choice for the sustainable prosperity and growth of this country and its people?

2) Which candidate has a better and clearer policy on peace and the economy, two of the main issues confronting this poll?

3) It is often said that business leaders have a key role to play in politics -in guiding the destinies of this nation. Do you think the business community has a role to play?

4) Should the business community sign an MOU with the two candidates covering key policy issues impacting on peace and the economy?

5) Should the business community get a commitment to have at least 10% of the nominated members of Parliament to represent private sector interests?
