Dream Team is back with a bang
By N.Dilshath Banu
The programme was scheduled for seven 'o' clock, yet as usual the time stretched. People from all walks of life, specially the young, walked in and out of their respective seats.

Clad mostly in black, the young girls filled the front seats and the guys, imitating gangsters' style, hanged mostly in the balcony and some in the front seats. All seemed like another concert full of lights and loud noise, in the Bishop’s College Auditorium, last week. The feature artistes of the ‘We Are The Future’ were Dream Team, Rozanne, Charles & Hiran and the most wanted Iraj& Illnoize.

After a long waited minute, the bell rang. The stage unveiled. The sounds of music started slowly and two girls and two boys tuned the audience to their melody of voice. It's kind of a slow music to get back the wandering minds of the audience to the concert.

Rozanne appeared after to give a talk. She unveiled that this musical show is not just about noise and lights. It's more than that. It's an event to unveil the talents! (Yes, it is!)

The stage is back to on its track. A dance, by two girls in blue was a mix of Kandyan with a twist. As the audience wished, Jude, Suresh, Nishan and Sumith - the Dream Team appeared to entertain the crowd. Although they performed in nightclubs hereb and abroad, it's rare to see them in concerts, as they didn't do any shows in the recent times.

So this was the chance to see the Dream Team live in Concert!! Yet in the middle of the Dream Team melody, many artists, young and the experienced alike performed in the light.

A solo was presented by a young guitarist, Ruwan. The song is dedicated to Jesus, and he sung it in a Bob Marley's Style. The Dream Team was back on stage, and came up with the Middle East tune. Dressed as an Arab, Jude blended his voice to suit the Arabic melody of "Habibi'. And yet, the audience responded with claps and cheers and follwoing Swenley Perera, another young talent had a chance to voice what she wanted to say in her song.

Clad in red, Suneth de Silva came to the stage, sought one-minute silence from the audience and then started his loud solo about soldiers who had sacrificed their lives for us. It's amazing that such a boisterous crowd was able to maintain a minute of silence, when needed. Another uprising group had the chance to perform on stage. The Seeds!! Yes, it's a new group comprising Sanjaya, Danushker, Sharaz and Asanka, the man behind the drums. They played two songs, 'The river of life' and 'One way' , which really held the breath of the audience. Within various sounds and flashing lights, the melody of flute echoed around the auditorium. It's Hiran, the young flutist and with his song, the audience had a break for few minutes.

The stage became a dance floor, for young couple who danced away like J Lo, after the break. The Dream Team is no more, as they were heading for a nightclub performance.

Hiran came back with the flute, but the boisterous guys in the balcony, screamed for Iraj. Rozanne calmed down the crowd and let some other talents unveil. And before the last event, Rozanne let the audience hear their lullaby of Stone Cold the grade 9 boys of St.Peter’s College and following was songs by another group.

The curtains covered the stage again. It's being so long, long waited hours by the audience to see Iraj. The guys, specially the people in the balcony, surprisingly, yet not surprisingly became restless without Iraj's duo. Rozanne, didn't want to hold back Iraj and let a small boy to introduce Iraj to the crowd. Iraj with The Illnoize Group appeared on stage.

As usual, the crowd went mad, specially the guys, ironically. But this time, many didn't come before the stage to dance with Iraj and the others, although very few guys attempted to dance their way in between the front seats and the stage. Although, for Iraj, this was another concert, for Krishan, this is somewhat a last concert for sometime, as he's going back to UK to continue his studies.

The audience had the chance to hear Krishan performing, 'Thola', a song from his first album, 'Asian Avenue', which will be released soon. Although this concert attribute to few artistes, it's a blend of young talent, some who have been in the music industry for many years, but mostly this concert focuses on the young talent. It's no doubt that Sri Lanka has loads of young musicians who are waiting to be discovered!
