Exciting times
Not all business leaders are grumbling about elections. Heard at a recent glittering Colombo banquet: Journalist: “Trouble for you guys with elections round the corner?” Top CEO: “No fuss man, what can we do without elections these days. We have got so used to it that we may not know what to do without all this excitement every year.”

Hungry
Guess which business benefits most from uncertainty? Supermarkets! A lot of food and drink is consumed when people are uncertain and worried about the future. It makes them hungry and thirsty.

F&B listener
The two main presidential candidates are wooing the many chambers of commerce and industry for support.
Members of these chambers attending these functions are provided a generous helping of food and drink.
Will the candidates do what they promise? “Who cares – let’s eat and drink and just listen,” said one. Invitees have now been dubbed the F&B (food and beverage) businessmen.

No vote, no bonus
One business pal of a candidate has been going around saying that he warned his employees that if they don’t vote for his “friend” they would not get a bonus or wage hike. Maybe he forget that this is a secret ballot!
