Best A/level candidate
Rakitha Murage (18), a past pupil of SIS, who obtained straight As for his A/level examination, was adjudged Best A/level candidate at the Edexcel International Awards Ceremony, 2004. Having offered mathematics, further mathematics, computing, physics and chemistry for his A/levels, he turned out trumps on all five of his subjects, earning himself the prize for the best A/level results in the country.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science and technology at the University of Sydney, Australia, Rakitha says that he hasn’t exactly set his mind on what he intends to do in the future. However, he was quite confident that it’ll most certainly be something related to computing. He said that he’s considering doing further research into artificial intelligence, but that you never know, he just might change his mind as time goes on, as he delves further into the world of computer technology. In short, “winning the award felt great!”

When in school, Rakitha would put his knowledge to the test by participating in various math and computing competitions, being a member of the quiz and chess clubs, as well as being involved in activities of the interact club and the choir. He was even a part of the National Pool for the Olympiad in Informatics.

In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with his friends, watching movies and playing computer games. “I got lucky when it came to managing my time, because things balanced themselves out,” added Rakitha modestly.
An only child, Rakitha gives all credit to his mother and Alma Mater or in his own words they’re “simply the best!!!”
