Folk-rock fusion at ‘Badges and Blades’
Alien Accent will take the stage in three spectacular live concerts from September 30 to October 2, at the Bishop's College Auditorium. The core members of the band Suresh and D.K. are teaming up with sensational new vocalist Dillain Joseph in what promises to be exhilarating evenings of unadulterated folk-rock-fusion.

Renowned for their trailblazing live shows since the days they performed as Suresh & Husni with DK, the trio has secured some of Sri Lanka's finest musicians to back them. Additionally, they are flying down former L.A. session guitarist Sanjay Divecha currently based in Bombay. Other special guests include Thilan Wijesinghe and Aruna Siriwardhana.

The theme for this concert, "Badges & Blades" is the title of their upcoming album. They will be performing songs from the new album as well as from "Rites of Passage". "We'll be playing lots of originals as well as covers of our favourite artistes like Fleetwood Mac, Crowded House, Sting, Paul Simon and Tracey Chapman. Of course we'll do our own arrangements as usual," said Suresh.
The unique feature of an Alien Accent concert is the attention to detail in every aspect of the show. This is a band that moves into the venue days in advance and meticulously plans out their lighting, sound, video screens etc., in their quest for perfection. They are known to insist on using cutting edge technology especially for lights and sound.

They also have an uncanny ability to attract some of the most talented musicians in the country and bring out the best in them. Their original compositions feature thought provoking and meaningful lyrics in their own brand of folk-rock fusion. Alien Accent recorded their critically acclaimed Rites of Passage album in Los Angeles working with studio musicians of international standard. According to D.K., many of the songs from this album will be rearranged for the show. Tickets and box plan at Commons - 39/A Flower Road, Colombo 7. Tel 2694435.

Sanjay in action
Sri Lankan audiences will get a rare opportunity to see dynamic guitarist Sanjay Divecha in action when he flies down to perform at the Alien Accent's concert.

Sanjay has played with the likes of Carlos Santana, Angelique Kidjo, Sheila E. and Shankar Mahadevan during his illustrious career which includes several years as one of the most in-demand session guitarists in Los Angeles. He is currently based in Bombay where he is involved in composing for film projects.
Suresh and DK worked with Sanjay in Los Angeles where they recorded their critically acclaimed album "Rites of Passage" in 2001. "Sanjay was one of the incredibly talented session musicians we had the good fortune to work with," says Suresh.

"When we heard that he was in Bombay we just had to get him over to play at our show! We were thrilled when he accepted our invitation!"
A versatile guitarist, Sanjay's influences range from folk-rock to Afro-Cuban to Jazz. "Sanjay exudes an aura of professionalism and passion that is sure to rub off on everyone in the band," says DK. "Having him on stage with us will naturally raise the bar on our musicianship."
