Stars
in the making
The preliminary rounds have finally come to an end… the auditions
are now done away with. While the judges are busy narrowing it down
to the final 30, we thought of giving our readers some insight on
how ‘the hopefuls’ of YES FM Radio Super Star will be
chosen.
Auditions
for the YES FM Radio Super Star were held during September in the
major cities of Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Negombo. Here the contestants
were required to sing without a backing track or any musical accompaniments.
Each contestant was required to sing before a recording camera,
which is now in the process of being viewed by a panel of judges
responsible for filtering the footage.
Taking
part in this search for the super star was a no brainer… all
you had to do was fill in the registration form which was available
online, if not call in and then just head out to the city, which
is closest to you for the auditions.
What is most important is that you had the talent to be noticed
by the judges and the determination to see it through… Of
course the contestants also had to sound good to the listeners,
because don’t forget, at the end of the day they will be giving
the final verdict.
So
what is the judging process going to be like…
When it comes to the panel of judges, they will evaluate the footage
of the soloists and narrow it down to a group 30 finalists, who
will enter the second round of YES FM Radio Super Star. The second
round will begin on October 1, where the finalists will be required
to perform one song before the panel, with backing tracks. From
the second round, the panel will choose their final 15, who will
qualify for the next stage.
The
15 chosen by the panel will sing on YES FM and on Channel 1 MTV
on designated days for the country to start voting for their Radio
Super Star.
Next we have the duo/groups category. Here too the panel of judges
will evaluate the footage of the duo/group entrants and narrow down
the group to 20 finalists, who will enter the second round of YES
FM Radio Super Star.
During
the second round, the finalists will be required to perform one
song before the panel, with backing tracks. The second round takes
place on October 2. From the second round, the panel will choose
their final 10, who will qualify for the next stage, where they
will sing on YES FM and on Channel 1 MTV on designated days, for
the country to start voting for their Radio Super Star.
And
then at the finals, the surviving five soloists, and five duos or
groups will perform before a live audience, among the glitz and
the glamour, and await the results to see who has become Radio Super
Star, 2005.
The
entire show has been mapped out to be another mega event, and going
by the popularity of the first show, this year’s Radio Super
Star which is to be held on November 6, has certainly got the ingredients
to soar higher, and linger further in the minds of Sri Lankans.
